Hi David,
Thank you for sending me a copy of Verticals! I now recognize your book boxes and was very excited to see it in my mailbox. I’ve looked through it several times now and I’m looking forward to spending time exploring the images in more detatil and seeing what new things I can learn. I too used to rarely take a vertical photo. It always felt “wrong” and not a worthy photograph. That has changed for me now that I take a lot of vertiacal photos.
I’m still in the final edit stage of my book as the project has been delayed. Our daughter, Nicole, bought a condo in Seattle and I’ve been spending much of my time working on it. We demoned the kitchen and bthroom except for the tub. Painted the rooms and had the “popcorn” celing replasterd with a smoth finish. I’ve now instlled new kitchen cabents, counters, and sink. The bathrooom has a new linolim floor, vanity, sink, mirror, lights and tolet. I’m replaccing all of the plugs and light switches. Next week new carpeting will be installed along with new kitchen applicecies. Lamninate flooring will be put in the second week of July and then July 17 will be the move in day. It’s been a lot of work, but the sweat equaty helped get into a place within her budget. No, I’m not going into the house flipping/renovation business. I’m too old for that kind of work.
Did Alvin Cominter send you a link to his new Halifax Public Gardens project? It’s an intersting idea putting his images together with music. I’ve looked at it many times and see someting new on each viewing. His work as well as yours, have been a big influence on my photography. I didn’t fully understand it whie we were CalArts, but it did shape what I went on to do. Thank you!
After this week, I’ll be able to spend time finishing the book and send it off to the printer. I also need to get the webpage ready to sell the book. I have a few options to test out. I’ll use Stripe for the CC sales portion. It will also be great to be able to spend more time with my other photo projects. I’m tryiing to keeping to a schedule of posting new photoblogs on Wednesdays and Fridays. The weather is turing nice here so we’ll be hikking more.
I’ll keep you posted as the book project proceeds. Thanks again for sending me a copy of Verticals. It will be a great addition to my David Wing library!
Stay well! – Steve
